Casas de Oaxaca

I learned salsa from Raul.
How to give the best hugs from Romi.
And deep gratitude from Angel.

All are residents of children’s homes—facilities that care for children, many differently abled, who cannot live with their families—in Oaxaca. Some have autism, Down syndrome, or are visually or hearing-impaired. Others are at the homes because their families cannot afford to feed or educate them and have opted to give them a better chance at life. Whatever their stories, they are all precious and beautiful to me. They have also taught me some of my most profound lessons in this life.
